HOW IT WORKS: The LP Record Player (720p)

This educational video explains how phonographs work. Sound vibration waveforms are engraved as corresponding physical deviations in a spiral groove, etched, incised, or impressed into the surface of the plastic. The surface is similarly rotated while a playback stylus traces the groove and is therefore vibrated by it, then amplified.
