Computational fluid dynamics simulation of the Erebus fumarolic ice cave formation process to work. Initial conditions are ice in the top half of the model, air in the bottom, a hot floor to the right hand side, and symmetry on the right hand boundary. Phase change is modeled as a Stefan problem. The geometry is deformed normal to the boundary in proportion to the lagrange multiplier and inverse proportion to the specific heat capacity.
