34081 Overhaul - Crosshead being machined

During the overhaul, it was found that the right hand side crosshead and slidebars were worn. The slidebars were sent for machining and then returned and setup on the engine to determine the thickness of the whitemetal required to give the correct clearances. The crosshead had new whitemetal melted onto its surface which ended up as a lumpy surface thicker than required. This short video then shows the process of machining this surface to produce the fine bearing surface required, at the required thickness
