Nury　Khalmamedov(1940-1983) was a native Turkmen composer in the Soviet era. After studying at Moscow conservatory with Anatoly Alexandrov (he was also neglected or forgotten Russian composer-pianist), he composed serious orchestral works like symphonic poem "Turkmenistan"(1963) and "Symphony No.1"(1968) while composing many film music like "Plunge"(1965).
